In these regulations,
"Act" means the Dental Profession Act; (Loi)
"Registration Committee" means the Committee established under section 77 of the Act. (comité d'inscription) R-076-2014,s.2. R-073-2018,s.2.
The Registrar shall
(a) maintain the following registers:
(i) Dental Register Part One, for the registration of dentists practising general dentistry,
(ii) Dental Register Part Two, for the registration of dentists practising as specialists,
(iii) Repealed, R-076-2014,s.4,
(iv) Temporary Register Part One, for the registration of dentists practising general dentistry for a period of three months,
(v) Temporary Register Part Two, for the registration of dentists practising as specialists for a period of three months,
(vi) Student Register, for the registration of students working with licensed dentists;
(b) call a meeting of the Registration Committee to consider the application within 30 days of the receipt of an application and the information necessary for registration;
(c) collect fees due under the Act and these regulations;
(d) send licence renewal notices to licensees by February 15 of each year;
(e) advise licensees of the dues owing and the date by which they must be received;
(f) prepare and sign licences;
(g) perform all other administrative functions required by the Registration Committee.
(1) Applicants for registration, except those applying under subsection (4), must apply in writing and state, where applicable,
(a) the location of the proposed practice,
(b) the proposed date of commencement of the practice,
(c) the area of specialty,
(d) the length of time the licence is to remain in force,
and must provide, where applicable, the appropriate fee and evidence showing that the applicant meets the requirements of the Act together with a valid certificate of qualification to practice in a specialty.
(2) Within ten days of registration, registrants must satisfy the Registrar that they have appropriate malpractice insurance.
(3) Applicants for registration in the Temporary Register may apply once each year and may practise for a maximum of three consecutive months each year.
(4) An applicant may apply once each year for a three month extension of the period imposed in subsection (3).
(5) Applicants for registration in the Student Register must have completed the penultimate year of an undergraduate dental educational program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada and must apply in writing and
(a) name the school of dentistry that the applicant attends;
(b) provide confirmation from the school named in paragraph (a) that the applicant is registered for the following year;
(c) state the name of the employer; and
(d) state the name of the dentist with whom the applicant will work and provide a letter from the dentist confirming the arrangement.

The Registration Committee shall refuse to register an applicant where the applicant has not complied with the requirements of the Act and these regulations.

Under section 3 of the Act, the Registrar shall maintain registers containing the following information relating to each licensee, where applicable:
(a) full name of licensee;
(b) date of birth;
(c) residence;
(d) location of practice;
(e) school(s) of dentistry attended;
(f) professional qualifications;
(g) year professional qualifications were obtained;
(h) date of registration;
(i) term of registration;
(j) licence number and conditions attached to the licence;
(k) specialties;
(l) date registered as specialist;
(m) cancellation, suspension of registration or licence;
(n) other information considered by the Registrar to be necessary at the time of registration.
Under subsection 51(1) of the Act, the Minister may require a complainant to pay $2000 as security for the costs of the hearing.
Where a Board of Inquiry orders the payment of costs under section 51 of the Act, the Board shall prepare a statement of costs based on
(a) the expenses of the members of the Board;
(b) the cost of transcripts;
(c) witness fees;
(d) legal fees, if any; and
(e) any other expenses incurred by the Board incidental to the hearing.
The fees payable under the Act and these regulations are set out in Schedule A.
