In these regulations,
"Act" means the Education Act; (Loi)
"registered organization" means an organization that has registered under subsection 151(7) of the Act. (organisation inscrite)
(1) A register is established at the headquarters office of the Department of Education, Culture and Employment in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories for the purposes of registering organizations that wish to be consulted under subsection 151(6) of the Act.
(2) An organization that wishes to be added to the register may do so by contacting the Department of Education, Culture and Employment
(a) by mail at Box 1320, Yellowknife, NT X1A 2L9;
(b) by facsimile transmission at 867-873-0155;
(c) by telephone at 867-920-6221; or
(d) by any other means and to the persons that the Deputy Minister responsible for the Department of Education, Culture and Employment may designate from time to time.
(3) An organization that wishes to be added to the register shall provide the following information:
(a) the name of the organization;
(b) the name, mailing address and, where available, facsimile transmission number of a person who may be contacted on behalf of the organization and a telephone number at which that person may be reached;
(c) which of the following categories of regulations the organization wishes to comment on:
(i) students, language of instruction and school programs;
(ii) education staff and Superintendents;
(iii) education bodies;
(iv) financial;
(v) other specific areas of interest;
(vi) all categories.
(4) A person may review the contents of the register between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday to Friday.
(1) A registered organization shall renew its registration once during each school year.
(2) The Minister may strike from the register a registered organization that does not renew its registration under subsection (1) and the Minister is not required to consult an organization that has been struck from the register until the organization registers again under these regulations.
(1) A registered organization shall advise the Minister if any of the information about it that is contained in the register is not accurate or changes.
(2) The Minister is not responsible to ensure that the information contained in the register is accurate or complete.
(1) The Minister shall send a copy of the proposed contents of the regulations to education bodies and to registered organizations and may, in writing, establish dates by which the education bodies and registered organization must provide their comments.
(2) The Minister shall consider all comments regarding the proposed contents of the regulations that are received from education bodies and from registered organizations before any date established under subsection (1).

These regulations come into force July 1, 1996.
