The Commissioner, on the recommendation of the Executive Council, under section 34 of the Official Languages Act and every enabling power, makes the Official Languages Board Regulations.
In these regulations, "Board" means the Official Languages Board continued under subsection 28(1) of the Official Languages Act.
For the purposes of subsection 28(3) of the Act, the prescribed representatives of the official language communities referred to in subsection 28(2) of the Act are set out in the Schedule.
A person is not eligible to serve as a member or alternate member of the Board unless they are a resident of the Northwest Territories.
A member or alternate member of the Board holds office during pleasure for a term of up to four years as specified in the appointment.
A member or alternate member of the Board may resign at any time by notifying the Minister in writing.
The members of the Board shall designate a chairperson and a vice-chairperson from among their number.
Six members or alternate members of the Board constitute a quorum for meetings of the Board.
The Official Languages Board Regulations, established by regulation numbered R-049-2004, are repealed.
