Interpretation
In these regulations,
"Act" means the Public Printing Act; (Loi)
"Deputy Editor" means the Deputy Editor of the Gazette appointed under section 5 of the Act; (éditeur adjoint)
"Editor" means the Editor of the Gazette appointed under section 5 of the Act; (éditeur)
"Gazette" means the Northwest Territories Gazette; (Gazette)
"gazetted" means published in the Gazette. (version anglaise seulement) R-102-2007,s.2.

The Gazette shall comprise the following Parts:
(a) Part I, containing
(i) instruments referred to in section 2 of the Act, other than those falling under paragraph (b), and
(ii) instruments made under a statute by the Commissioner or a Minister appointing any person to an office or position or conferring on any person or body powers or functions in relation to a matter to which the instrument relates;
(b) Part II, containing
(i) regulations, within the meaning of the Statutory Instruments Act,
(ii) orders made by the Commissioner under any federal statute and having legislative effect, and
(iii) any other instrument referred to in section 2 of the Act that has legislative effect or is made in the exercise of a legislative power.
(1) Instruments required to be published in Part I of the Gazette may be edited in such a manner as, in the opinion of the Editor, gives the essential details of each instrument.
(2) For the purpose of facilitating the editing of any instrument under subsection (1), the Editor may cause to be gazetted a Gazette handbook, and any amendments to it, explaining editorial policies relating to the Gazette. R-102-2007,s.4.
Part II of the Gazette shall contain the full text of instruments requiring publication in that Part, but the editor may edit the following details of an instrument:
(a) the registration number;
(b) the date;
(c) the identity of the signatory;
(d) the place of signing;
(e) the title of any enabling statute.
(1) Part I and Part II of the Gazette shall be published monthly.
(2) Subject to the Statutory Instruments Act, no failure to comply with subsection (1) shall affect the validity of any instrument required by law to be published in the Gazette. R.R.N.W.T.1990, c.P-27(Supp.), s.3; R-102-2007,s.5.
Where, in the opinion of the Editor, the circumstances of the case require it, he or she may direct the Territorial Printer to cause to be published a supplement to the Gazette or an extraordinary edition of any Part of the Gazette. R-102-2007,s.6.
The Deputy Editor, during any period in which the Editor is absent or unable to act, may exercise or perform any power or duty assigned to the Editor under these regulations. R-102-2007,s.7.
