In these regulations,
"Act" means the Statutory Instruments Act; (Loi)
"gazetted", in reference to any statutory instrument, means published, or details of which have been published, in the Northwest Territories Gazette. (publié dans la Gazette)
Exemptions
The following statutory instruments or classes of instrument are exempt from the application of section 9 of the Act:
(a) rules of the Court of Appeal, Supreme Court or Territorial Court;
(b) a direction, declaration or order issued or made under the Child and Family Services Act;
(c) Repealed, R-050-2010,s.2.
(d) an approval given or order made under sections 13 to 19 of the Mental Health Act.

(1) The Registrar shall maintain separate registers for regulations and for those statutory instruments that are not regulations.
(2) The Registrar shall keep the regulations and statutory instruments registers separate from any other registers that he or she may maintain.
(3) The regulations register may contain any instrument made by the Commissioner which would be a regulation but for the fact that it was not made under or wholly under an Act.
(4) Each statutory instrument must bear a registration number.
(5) The registration number for each statutory instrument, other than a regulation, must consist of the following components in the following order:
(a) the abbreviation "SI";
(b) a dash;
(c) a number according to a consecutive series of instruments registered in the statutory instruments register fixed by reference to each year;
(d) a dash;
(e) the year in which the instrument is registered.
(6) The registration number for each regulation must consist of the following components in the following order:
(a) the abbreviation "R";
(b) a dash;
(c) a number according to a consecutive series of regulations fixed by reference to each year;
(d) a dash;
(e) the year in which the regulation is registered.
(6.1) In subsection (6), "regulation" includes an instrument referred to in subsection (3) that is registered in the regulations register.
(7) Registration numbers must be allocated as nearly as may be in the order in which they are received by the Registrar. R-084-9,s.4,5,6,7; R-050-2010,s.3.
There is no fee payable for copies of
(a) the Northwest Territories Gazette obtained under paragraph 12(b) of the Act; or
(b) statutory instruments obtained under section 15 of the Act.
