Lottery schemes

The Commissioner may regulate and licence persons or organizations to conduct and manage the les lottery schemes that are permitted in the Northwest l’administration Territories under the Criminal Code. Territoires S.N.W.T. 2017,c.20,s.5(2). et art.

Effect of conviction on

Where a person is convicted of an offence under

(a) this Act or the regulations, condition,

(b) Part VII of the Criminal Code, coupable

(c) the Liquor Act or the regulations relating to the operation of a licensed premise where a lottery is conducted, or

(d) any other Act of the Northwest Territories or an Act of Canada, a province or another territory, or a regulation made under these Acts, that demonstrates that it is not in the public interest for that person to conduct a lottery scheme,

the licence of that person may be cancelled, suspended or conditions imposed on its issuance, notwithstanding that the offence had been committed at the time the Le licence was issued. S.N.W.T. 2017,c.20,s.5. commise L.T.N.-O. art.

Offence and punishment

Every person who contravenes this Act or the regulations is guilty of an offence and liable on règlements summary conviction, déclaration

(a) for the first offence, to a fine not exceeding $500; and

(b) for each subsequent offence, to a fine not exceeding $2,000.

Regulations

The Commissioner, on the recommendation of the Minister, may make regulations peut,

(a) prescribing terms, conditions and fees respecting lottery licences and the conducting and managing of lottery schemes;

(b) delegating the authority to regulate and licence lottery schemes to any person or community council;

(c) delegating any authority under a licensing scheme established under this Act, or in accordance with the provisions of the Criminal Code, to a Minister or a person acting under the direction of a Minister;

(d) prescribing forms to be used under this Act; and

(e) generally for the due enforcement of this Act and for carrying out the purposes and provisions of this Act. L.T.N.-O.
